Expertise centre De Vaandel chooses movable floor

Bouwgroep Dijkstra Draisma constructed the expertise center De Vaandel-Zuid for the Foundation for Social Real Estate (SMV). The expertise center provides alternative accommodation for approximately four hundred students who previously attended schools in Bergen (Mytylschool), Alkmaar (Heliomare De Alk), and Antoniusschool in Heerhugowaard. The Vaandel-Zuid expertise center is specifically tailored to children with multiple disabilities and special learning challenges.

The expertise center serves as the new facility for children and teachers from three different schools: the Mytylschool in Bergen, Heliomare De Alk in Alkmaar, and Antoniusschool in Heerhugowaard. The children attending these schools all have specific care and learning needs. They have multiple disabilities or face upbringing, behavioral, and psychological issues, making them a unique and vulnerable group. In total, there are approximately 400 children.

Movable floor with integrated stairs

Variopool teams installed a movable pool floor for the therapy pool at De Vaandel. The pool measures 13 x 6 meters and includes an integrated staircase. This specialized pool has a maximum depth of 1.40 meters. In addition to the pool floor, Variopool also provided the handrails for the acclimatization pool, the cassette staircase with handrails, the starting blocks, and the overflow gutter.
